Herbert Brooks Walker II, 1927-2018, American sculptor, creatively spanned the modern arts: from figurative to abstract, portraiture to monumental, and singular happenings.
He primarily worked with bronze and wire, but also created in clay, malleable metals and a wide variety of expressive mediums.
His studies began at the Arts Student League with Harry Sternberg and Robert Hale, then continued at Yale School of Fine Arts (BFA 1951) with Willem de Kooning and Josef Albers.
Originally from Brooklyn, he lived and worked in Venezuela, Iran, Japan, New York, Vermont, and Verona, Italy.
The Walker Museum, created together with Joan Allen Walker, in Fairlee Vermont, exhibited a global collection of art and inspirational cultural artifacts acquired through their travels and culutral collections. His studio was part of the museum's tour.
Elsewhere, he exhibited with as much restraint as possible.
